Hi,

I am using Firefox v43.0.4. I am not able to play Instagram, Vine videos. When I click on the play icon on the videos, nothing happens. Everything else is working fine. I tried in safe mode but the result was the same. What should I do?

Thanks

Are there any media related errors in the Web Console (Firefox menu button or Tools > Web Developer)? Web Console (Firefox menu button or Tools > Web Developer).

Firefox 42+ has a Tracking Protection feature that is enabled by default in Private Browsing mode. When you are in private browsing mode then Firefox can show a shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar that some content is affected.

You can disable this feature in "Options/Preferences > Privacy" or via the about:privatebrowsing page that get when you open a New Private Window.

  • Options/Preferences > Privacy: "Use Tracking Protection in Private Windows"

Yes dear, this is the error when I press Ctrl+Shift+K on any Instagram video page

HTTP "Content-Type" of "video/mp4" is not supported. Load of media resource https://igcdn-videos-a-16-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/t50.2886-16/12632420_1516937988609776_884335622_n.mp4 failed.

You are probably out of luck on Windows XP when if comes to playing MP4 files with the HTML5 media player

Hmm, what's supposed to happen is Vine detects that Firefox on XP can't decode MP4 and switches to a plugin-based player such as Flash. At least as of the time of this thread that was supposed to be working:

MP4 files won´t play

Did they break it?

I haven't researched Instagram.

Ah, so why are the videos playing fine in Chrome in Windows XP?

If I disable mp4 fragmentation, then will it help? Mentioned in the last comment https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1053509

Chrome bundles some components that are not included in Firefox for licensing reasons.

No harm trying.
