Gmail willing to download contact list, but when I ask Thunderbird to import it, it says okay, but after doing it it's not there.

Thanks, Mike

Please check the gContactSync settings in the main menu gContactSync > Accounts there is not just the right account needed, but also to choose the right group to sync to the address bar.

I know it's not easy to setup, but once done, will work well and you don't need to export/import anything manually. In case you're facing problems with gContactSync settings, you can find some support directly for this add-on on http://www.pirules.org/forum/.

Hi Mike.

What way do you use for downloading contacts from Google to your Thunderbird? Personally I use gContactSync and it works just great.

Michal, I downloaded gContactSync, it's in my Thunderbird tool bar, and I've run it. It gives me some dialogue, I've tried it in every configuration offered, but no new addresses wind up in my Thunderbird address book. Only have the ones whose email I've responded to. Anything else I could be doing wrong?

Prior to my trying your gContactSync suggestion, started at gmail>contacts>more>export "This preview version of Google Contacts doesn't support exports yet" 1. Go to the old Google contacts. 2.export your contacts. Went there>more>export>the group>my contacts>Google CSV format>export into my downloads=google CSV, not working.

Michal, I was misinterpreting the query about 'accounts' . Yes it's now fixed, and I thank you for your help. Now I can make use of what I'm finding to be the best available email client available.
