Is it possible to lock mimeTypes settings, so that user will not be able to change it ? Some of our users regularly change their application/pdf settings from "Ask" or "Open with Acrobat Reader..." to "Save" sometimes even without realising that they have changed something, this causes major problems with our web app - pdf files generated by the app are then silently downloaded in the background which then makes the user think that the web app does not work.

So far I've made a script which replaces mimeTypes.rdf in users profiles, but perhaps there is a better solution ?

You could look into the Webconverger addon. Which turns Firefox into a kiosk style browser where settings can be locked down.

Check it out here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/webconverger/ http://webconverger.com/
