Hello

For some reason, starting this morning Firefox wouldn't launch. After 3 hours of messing with things, I managed to get it running again. It is hard to tell what worked since I tried a lot of different things, including restoring Windows to an earlier date and uninstalling 3 past updates that had to do with those annoying Windows 10 notices.

Now, once again, only an hour or so after everything working correctly, Firefox again won't launch.

Has there been a Windows Update that is messing with the program? My anti virus hasn't mentioned anything wrong.

I tried updating Firefox to the latest version and it didn't seem to help. I run Windows 7 Pro.

HELP!!!

Try to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if that works.

  • Windows: hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox
  • Mac: hold down the Options key while starting Firefox

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
