Hi I have a problem copying my profile from Vista to W10. W10 uses an extra folder 'Local' besides the 'roaming' folder in appdata. In my case I changed the roaming folder to another partition G: The local folder you cannot move and is still in C: Reason for the move : my thunderbird profile is so big there became a storage problem. Making a total new thunderbird installation was no help. Also moving the old profile to the new roaming %appdata% in G: was no help. Also using a backup of the old same-name profile which was created in Local before partioning was no help. deleting whole thunderbird and starting again neither.

Mozilla Firefox does not have this problem. You can use your old rofile in the Roaming"-Mozilla-profile folder when there is also a C: local Mozilla/ profile. It does not work with Thundrbird! It seems that the same-name profile file in Local conrols the one in roaming but supposes it is in C: Roaming too. But if C: roaming does not exist in C: but in G: it does not work. What to do?

Thanks for any help. Herrie - PS very difficult to find a contact form.

Help|Troubleshooting Information|ProfileFolder→Show Folder will take you to the profile. It's in Roaming. Forget about what is under Local. That is a Windows aberration.
