How do we stop this support appeal from blocking half of our screen? What happens if we do not want to contribute?
This request for contribution suddenly appeared and blocks half our email messages. There seems to be no way to block it or indicate non-interest. When it was installed (as a free service) we were led to believe it was a free replacement since we did not have Outlook.

It is free but donations are welcome as are thank yous for the volunteers that program and support the program so you can use it for free. Go to Options-general an turn off the box to show the Start Page.
This landing page you mention in no way blocks or prevents you from displaying email. The landing page also provides important links to support, so ordinarily it is not a good idea to remove it.
