Outgoing E-mail often returned with error message, and the address changed with quote marks added. I know I put in the right address. Frustrating.

I recently switched e-mail from Outlook to Thunderbird. Having to get used to changes but overall pleased with Thunderbird. Why are e-mails changed after I send to a long-time address and then returned as undeliverable. Here is an example of a created address. I put in Jjones1896@uuuuu.net. It is returned liked this:

>"John Jones jjones1896"@uuuuu.net<

Do you have information for this contact in your 'personal address book' OR ' Collected Address Book' in tbird ? possibly in the form of a vcard? if so that behavior is courtesy of your address book entries being the overriding 'caller of the shots' so to say.

There are a few ways to confirm this is the cause: 1) remove any non email related info in the vcard or address book info for this contact and retry sending email to contact. 2) use a secondary email (if one exists --which there is no previous data in your Thunderbird address books) and try sending.

If either or both of the above tests prove to allow for proper transmission move the offending data to say the vcard 'notes' section or place offending data in one address book and use the other for sourcing emails for transmission.
