This happens when I'm using Firefox in Android. When I browse websites with articles, for ex. dailymail.co.uk or blogs at blogspot.com, I swipe up to read further on the news article/blog post. When I swipe slightly diagonally, ex. diagonal up-right direction, Firefox goes to the next article/post when I really want to stay on the current page and read what's at the bottom part. Is there a way to disable this?

That is something that the site added. If you see a book icon in the address bar you can press that to go to 'reader mode' and that will stop the side scrolling.
