can't send messages

I use Thunderbird on 2 computers. No problem with one, but on the second I can no longer send messages. I get a dialogue box saying there is a connection to the server, then nothing further happens. Before this, when it was working, messages would go, but no copy was saved to the SENT folder despite the setting showing as correct.

The two machines run separate mail accounts, but both using the same host, and are set up identically. Nothing has been changed which could cause mail to stop being sent successfully.

Any suggestions?

try disabling that inbox so it cant receive or send, even if you execute the commands.

then create a new inbox, enter all the settings as new again and see if it will negotiate with the webmail server.

Thanks for the suggestion. In the end I just re-installed the software, and it is working now. For how long...?
