Recently did a reinstall of win7. Didn't do a specific back-up of my thunderbird profile (I know, I should have!) WIn7 saved all my programs though I had to reinstall them. Did a reinstall of Thunderbird and now can't find the old profile only the new one. Have looked in the usual places and can only see the profile created at the new installation. Is the old profile still there somewhere or have I blown it? There's a lot of stuff that I really need to have. Can't imagine that it has been deleted but I could be wrong. Any suggestions please.

is there a windows.old folder?

more options

Yes, I've looked in here but haven't found the old profile though maybe I haven't looked in the right place

Assuming that the answer to my last question was yes. Turn on the windows option to see hidden files and folders.

Windows 7

  1. Select the Start button, then select Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization.
  2. Select Folder Options, then select the View tab.
  3. Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then select OK.

Now locate the appdata\remote folder it will be windows.old\users\[username]\appdata\remote\

The Thunderbird folder will contain your old profile data. Or should.
