I have about 6 email accounts that I manage through Thunderbird. My gmail account (only) has been forever slow loading emails, attachments, opening the reply window, etc. It takes minutes to load an email. Obviously I can't continue on this way. Any idea what's going on?

I’ve collated some tips to fix your gmail slowness:

-First things first, make sure your internet connection is speedy.
  - Switch to a modern browser, like Google Chrome.
-Delete your cookies, temporary internet files, and disable browser plugins.
  - Disable any ‘Google Labs’ features you have enabled for your Gmail account. Disable Gchat.
  - Add “?nocheckbrowser” to the URL — Try via this link: https://mail.google.com/gmail?nocheckbrowser
-Decrease the number of mails shown on one page. You can do this via General Settings via the ‘maximum page size’ setting.
-Use a third party email client, like Sparrow, Mac Mail, or Thunderbird.
   -Try ‘basic HTML mode’.
  - If all else has failed, you’ll want to decrease the total space of the items you’ve got stored in your Google Account. Protip: If you search for ‘before:1/1/2012’ you can select all mails that were sent before that date. Another useful search is ‘has:attachment’, which will find any emails with files attached.
