Hi, Since version 58.0.2 (64 bits) of Firefox under Windows 10, the profiles I open via the profile manager ("...\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p) are very slow to load web pages. Not every pages appear to be affected, but all Google services for example are very long to open, showing the message "A web page is slowing down your browser, what do you want to do, wait or stop it". On the other side, when open without the profile manager (this time via "...\firefox.exe"), each profile works normally : the loading speed of the web pages is correct.

I tried to create desktop shortcuts to each profile as a work around, but this opens a second instance of the already open profile and not the one targeted by the shortcut (zumaxb described the same problem here : https://support.mozilla.org/fr/questions/1205523#question-reply ).

Thanks for your help.

It appears Avast was the culprit : the profile manager doesn't slow anymore web pages after Avast uninstallation. Problem solved by switching to another antivirus, which was a project I was considering anyway. Thanks for your help.

Did you include the -no-remote switch in the target line of the desktop shortcuts?

No, I actually forgot it. Thanks, the shortcuts work correctly now. What about the problem with the profile manager ? Is it a bug un version 58.0.2 ?

are you happening to use avast/avg security software?

I'm using Avast and I did some testing by disabling it, but that did not solve the problem.

does it make any difference if you disable script scanning in the avast webshield and reboot your system once? if not try to uninstall it altogether once...

No difference with all Avast agents disabled, even after a reboot. Uninstall it seems a bit radical but I will try tomorrow.
