Recenly, "Save as types," when saving image from net is blank, not so in Chrome
Hello Mozilla Support.
Windows XP: Recently when trying to save an image from the net, the, "Save as types," field is empty, although the image does save.
Something changed this, as it used to display the file type when saving from the net.
I installed and then uninstalled, "BitDefender," at the time this occurred, so perhaps this program changed something?
I tried saving an image from the net using the Chrome browser and the, "Save as file types," is filled in with the file format, eg, jpeg.
Incidentally, "BitDefender," stopped both of my, "Windows Media Player," from working. When I uninstalled that program both media players are now working perfectly.
I look forward to getting this resolved, Best regards, Cup Of Tea.

I don't have a way to test Firefox on Windows XP, but Firefox 52 ESR seems normal on Windows 7 (without the complication of installing/uninstalling Bitdefender).
Do you have Windows set to show all file extensions so you can confirm that the file has an appropriate extension for an image?

If Firefox is not overriding that displayed extension with something unhelpful, like .htm, then this seems to be a cosmetic issue rather than a functional problem. However, I agree it's strange.
I'm not sure I have any suggestions that won't be more trouble than they're worth...
Hello Jscher2000, Many thanks for your prompt reply. Yes all as it was before this issue appeared. As I mentioned, when saving an image from the web, eg, a jpeg from Google images, the file does save perfectly and has the jpeg file extension, when viewed in the saved location. It's just when saving, the, "Save as types," field is empty. This issue is not present when saving an already saved image, or changing an already saved image, eg, in, "Paint." My own guess is that it is something quite simple, maybe a registry key? I look forward to more suggestions. Best regards, Cup Of Tea.
Is the site public where others can see what is being saved or the link to the site to example save to find what the error your getting at?
