Up until today, if I click on the star, it allowed me to bookmark a page to 'bookmarks toolbar', which I usually selected.

Now........nothing.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

  • I've had the Bookmarking function 'die' on me before. I could Bookmark nothing. Dead. A global FF Exit and ReStart, and Bookmarking returned.
  • Could be a memory issue if you are low on Memory after FF with many browser windows and Tabs are open for days or weeks.

Hi, there is now an option for bookmarks to save automatically in the dropdown, which you might have inadvertently changed, so it may now be saving automatically to 'Other bookmarks.' You can either click the blue star as if to edit, then select the 'Show editor when saving' box. Or, type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down the alphabetical list to browser.bookmarks.editDialog.showForNewBookmarks and if 'Value' is False, double click it to change it to True.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

Thank you, Scribe and PJ.

Purely by chance, I had tried the Restart, and the bookmarking blue star was back.

Thanks again!
