WHY HAVE VERY POPULAR ADD-ONS BEEN DISABLED AS OF THIS MAY 3 2019??
JUST LIKE WITH OTHERS, SUDDENLY ALL MY ADD-ONS WERE DISABLED TODAY! THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A FIREFOX ISSUE.
PLEASE FIX IT ASAP. I HAVE BEEN A HAPPY FIREFOX USER FOR A VERY LONG TIME!!

Mozilla has rolled-out a fix for this. The fix will be automatically applied in the background within the next few hours, you don’t need to take active steps.
In order to be able to provide this fix on short notice, they are using the Studies system. You can check if you have studies enabled
- Go to [=] > Options > Privacy & Security.
- Make sure Allow Firefox to install and run studies is check marked.
I you had it disabled, you can disable studies again after your add-ons have been re-enabled.
They are working on a general fix that doesn't need to rely on this and will keep you updated.

Sorry, the Add-ons team is working on a fix for this. It looks like a certificate used to sign many popular extensions expired. (The verification process checks that certificate.)
I don't know how soon re-signed versions of those extensions will become available, or whether another workaround will be discovered. We are all hoping to learn more soon.
I know you are frustrated but typing in all Caps is the internet version of shouting in ones face. ;)
sorry for the all caps but I AM frustrated!!
so this is what I am going to do. until this problem is solved- As much as I hate to do-I'm loading another browser that allows the same add-ons as I used to use on firefox.
Sure hope this BIG problem for all loyal Firefox users can be solved soon.
Hi menloparkmom,
A fix is being worked on. You can follow this thread for updates: https://discourse.mozilla.org/t/certificate-issue-causing-add-ons-to-be-disabled-or-fail-to-install/39047
I also have this problem ! These changes to Firefox keep on happening and my frustration and annoyance level keeps on growing.......the browser is being ruined by well-meaning individuals who seem to care nothing for the millions of users worldwide and make changes 'willy-nilly' with no warnings nor apologies....thanks for spoiling my day again !!
There were no changes to any versions of the Firefox web browser however so that is not the reason.
The basics is it is due to a intermediate certificate being used by many extension authors expired recently.

That may be the case this time but someone is to blame somewhere as it suspiciously happened to many unknowing extension authors at the same time.....however Firefox has changed from the reliable, helpful browser of the past to a sometimes problematical browser of recent years, which you cannot deny !
Still waiting for this fix link text

Have always had it enabled for studies and none of my extensions work or will download anymore.
Hi don544, an official update is out for both the regular release (Firefox 66.0.4) and the Extended Support Release (Firefox 60.6.2esr). See: Update Firefox to the latest release.
Sometimes the auto-updater doesn't see an update right away, either because it isn't scheduled to check yet or when you click Check for Updates, because the server is limiting the rate of installations "just in case" it creates a new problem.
If you are in a hurry, you can download the full installers through these pages:
- Regular release: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
- ESR release: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/
