For me, this is a regression issue. It is often helpful when troubleshooting an issue to know when Firefox updates were applied, especially when using Firefox is set to automatically update

Hi SannNord, could you check whether it is still available on the Troubleshooting Information page? Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the first table on the page, do you have a row for Update History?

No. about:support does not offer a "Show Update History" button. For comparison, my Tor Browser (Firefox 60.7.0esr) does show this button.

You are using the Firefox version from the Ubuntu repositories. This version is maintained via Ubuntu software management, so you won't see its update history in Firefox like you get when you update Firefox yourself when you use Firefox from the Mozilla server.

If I am interpreting your reply correctly, this issue will go away if I stop using the Ubuntu repository version of Firefox and directly download the installation package directly from Mozilla.org. Is there any downside and/or loss of functionality to stepping outside the Ubuntu repository framework? (For example, Firefox version 'auto update', etc.). Is there somewhere I can go to get a definitive list of the differences between the two installation packages?

Ubuntu probably adds a file to the distribution folder or an autoconfig file in the main install directory to customize Firefox although there might be other places. Easiest would be to check the file list in Ubuntu.
