Hi:

Pre Thunderbird 78, I could take an ics event file, drag it to the Events column on the right hand side of the calendar and it would correctly import all relevant data onto an event window. I could then simply click on add and that would be the end of it. Event was imported.

With the Thunderbird 78 update, there is no way to add an event with ics file. The same process as above opens an event window but simply places the ics file as an attachment. No information is read so it is useless.

Using the import command (Events and Tasks / Import) reads the event correctly but fails to add the event. If I click on Import Event, dialog exists but event is not added. If I click Import Everything, there is an error.

Can someone please shed some light on this?

Thank you

ICS attachments should not be displayed in Thunderbird as attachments, they should simply show a modified user interface in the email offering you to accept the invitation etc.

Thanks for the prompt reply. The ics files did not "arrive" by email. They were downloaded from websites when confirming an event with the common "add to calendar" option.

This is a know issue (for quite a while). I'd hope they'll fix it soon. It's pretty annoying. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1652984
