Before FF 78, new mail received would highlight the folder to indicate there was a new message in the folder. With ff78 this no longer happens.

I have more than 40 folders, sometimes with unread messages that I am not ready to get to. But I would at least like to know I received a new message. Upping the unread count doesn't do it for me; I have many folders with unread messages that I leave to process when I get a break.

I don't want to change from Firefox, but if I can find something better, I will.

I'm getting used to the work around I mentioned above. It was a pain to change all the folder icons in my list of folders from black to gray for those without automatic message filters when Getting New Messages and change all the folder icons in my list of folders from black to red for those with automatic message filters when Getting New Messages. But it works.

Now when I "Get Messages" the new emails are filtered to the folders as before but the folders with filters (now with red folder icons) all change from the red icon to the dark navy icon. So, I then only look for new mail in the folders where the icons changed from red to dark navy after Getting Messages.

I could have changed all the folder icons to red, however since I don't have filters on all the folders it was easier to see which folders had new mail, if I grayed out the folder icons on the folders with no filters and just set up the contrast between red and dark navy on the folders that could get new mail.

I still don't get why whoever set up TB 78 can't just change the folder name text color for new mail from the dark navy back to light blue. So, far I don't see where TB 78 has any improvements. It just made me more work and ate up a lot of time figuring out how to tell which folder received new mail.

Someone above said they created a bug report on the problem. I'd like to do that too. Where/how do you report a bug, like this folder name text color problem?

There is alsready a bug report. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1680947

I'm trying to get the developers to understand there are a load of issues with Windows OS. Folders not registering there is new mail. Accounts and folders with new mail now showing a dark blue instead of bright light blue. The list goes on. You are welcome to post a comment, but it needs to be constructive and useful. Please tell them what OS you use and what version of Thunderbird. Please tell them the problem. They are not interested in what you need to do to get a workaround.
