Since BT's new improved email service!!!, I cannot send or forward any emails with Thunderbird. It's something to do with the SMTP server which will not recognise my username or password. I get mail in but thats it. BT have talked me through everything they know but can't fix it. An hour and a half and they still are stumped after trying every possible thing. Deleting the program etc etc. The thing is it wont work on my other email programs either but on BT webmail all is ok. Usernames and password accepted with mail in and out no problem. I think it's BT they don't think it is. They wont accept a third party (Thunderbird) problem. Don't know where to turn as I don't want to use BT Webmail or my phone to send out messages that come in to Thunderbird. Been fine until just lately. HELP.

What are your settings? They should be: mail.btinternet.com on 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP), 465 for SMTP; SSL/TLS, normal password authentication, User Name = email address.
