How do I delete messages from the server after downloading to Thunderbird?
I found and archived thread with this Subject-title. First the answer was directing the user to de guide about 'Server settings'. Of course I have been there. I have set up Thunderbird with POP3 accounts en did NOT check the 'Leave mail on the server'-setting as it is by default. This way - if I'm not mistaken - the mail is deleted after download. But all the mail is kept on the server en is not deleted. I've worked with Pegasus too and at that time all (POP3-) mail was deleted after downloading. So I presume the server-side of my provider is set ok. So what do I have to do in Thunderbird to automatically delete downloaded mail? I don't think this has anything to do with the version of (automatically updated) Thunderbird, but I work with v91.8.1 (64-bit) Thanks for any help or suggestion.

Is it a Gmail account?
No, it is the mailserver of my provider. Nothing generic as Gmail or Outlook and their predecessors. But as I understood somewhere else: everyone should stick to the standards. And my provider told me this is something ruled by the clientsoftware.

I think there's a misunderstanding. If you did not check the "Leave mail on the server" option, then that means it's still checked, because by default it is checked, as well as the two options below it, so that messages are NOT deleted on the server until you either delete them in Thunderbird, or they get deleted by Thunderbird after 14 days have passed since the messages were downloaded. If you want messages to be deleted after downloading, then you need to uncheck that option.
