Why does it often take me up to ten attempts to open the Firefox browser, all the while navigating through the same message on each attempt. "Firefox is already running but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window." This problem is beyond frustrating.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but this happens on my Lenovo PC.

I appreciate your reply Terry and have no doubt that if I understood all the instructions, it would solve my problem. I tried for several minutes to no avail. I am a 76 year-old who considers himself pretty computer savy but would it be easier to delete Firefox entirely and reload it? Otherwise I see no reason not to use Microsoft Edge which I have used occasionally in the past with no problems.

Try restarting your computer. That may be enough.
