I don't like the "view panel" in Thunderbird so I always work with it turned off. However, if I restart TB 91.10.0 (32-bit) for any reason the panel always comes back (Win 10 Home) and I have to turn it off again. It never used to do this; instead TB remembered my preference. What am I doing wrong please?

Matt, thank you for your reply. I haven't had time to try your suggestion but the problem seems to have disappeared !!!??? I have no explanation for this. If it happens again I will try your proposed solution. Thanks again for your time.

using ccleaner perhaps? or other software that might also delete the sessions.json file and hence you settings for user interface items
