does thunderbird have an equivalent to outlook's "post in this folder"
Trying to move from outlook to thunderbird.
One outlook feature I've not found the equivalent of in thunderbird is "post in this folder" (Usually invoked with ctrl-shift-S)
This creates an item, which is like an email message, but doesn't actually get sent anywhere - it doesn't go through the email transport. It just creates an item, with basically the same content rules as an email message, right there in the folder.
It's a good way to make notes to oneself, using the mailer as a notebook tool.
(Yes, one could just write an email to oneself - but the "post in this folder" function is a little cleaner.)
Does thunderbird have such function?

There are a couple of ideas you could use.
Emails can be converted to an Event which can be seen in the Calendar. Right click on emal in list and choose 'Convert to' and choose 'Event'
You can also use the 'Convert to' > 'Task', which is sort of separate to the Calendar. But Tasks can be easily accessed in version 102* via the far left 'spaces Toobar' and Tasks can also be displayed in the 'Today Pane' here a double click will open showing full details.
This means you still have the email, but can also see full details via the calendar. Then you can set up a 'Reminder' if you need to respond by a set date etc.
There is also an addon called XNOTE++
XNote++ 3.3.2 by opto Persistent sticky notes for Thunderbird associated to mails. You can email them/print/copy to clipboard. If you have a large screen, you can even display the notes outside of TB's main window, so it won't hide anything. Works with Thunderbird 91.0 - 102.*
