Firefox was updated on this machine on this same day (March 6th). Old tabs continued to work. E.g. I could browse news.ycombinator.com/news as long as I worked within one tab. But if I wanted to visit an outside article the new tab I would create would not fill in. New tabs via control-T or via clicks did not download anything. At first the Firefox default new tab page would load but it stopped. I closed the browser. All the windows and tabs were lost at this point. Edge is what I am using now for the moment. I want to uninstall the existing browser and reinstall it.

When I run the uninstaller it says that firefox.exe is still running. When I try to stop it with the task manager, it respawns.

Please let me know how to run the uninstaller when firefox.exe won't die.

Somehow firefox.exe allowed itself to die while I entered the above problem statement, so I proceeded to delete its folder as I had planned to do. Then I downloaded a fresh installer and ran it. The problem I was trying to fix was still there, i.e. tabs don't download anything. Even control-N and then hit 'Getting Started" fails.
