After recently upgrading Thunderbird , I can no longer send email (I recieve it fine). I am an old roadrunner user so my outgoing SMTP server is mail.twc.com. It is an older server and there is no encryption or password. When I hit send I get a prompt for a password. Which then fails. I can send email from spectrum webmail so it seems to be a problem with the thunderbird software.

settings:

mail.twc.com port:110 Connection Security: None

I found the solution. It seems they must have change their defaults on the server side. I had to change the SMTP settings to:

mail.twc.com Port: 587 Username: xxxxxxxxxx Authentication Method: Normal Method Connection Security: STARTTLS

I used my spectrum account username and password.

Verify that your outgoing email is not being blocked by your firewall, antivirus software or your Internet Service Provider: Try briefly turning both antivirus and firewall software off, sending a test email, and turning them on and sending another test email.

Thank you for the suggestion. I disabled windows firewall and virus scan but got the same results..

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: +OK InterMail POP3 server ready..
