I have Firefox 119.0 on Windows 10, and am confused about all these bars.

Here is what I see at the top of the screen: (will have to use words for some icons)

Line 1: File/ Edit/ View/ History/ Bookmarks/ Tools/ Help, then on the right, minimize/ restore/ end.

Line 2: Firefox icon/ search bar showing my home page “Google”/ Open new tab/ List all tabs.

Menu bar is checked, so is that the Menu bar?

Line 3: Back arrow/ Forward arrow/ Shield/ Lock/ https://www.google.com/ Save to pocket/ Firefox account/ Extensions/ Application menu.

Line 4: Google screen

I asked about Download on a previous question and got a reply from cor-el (Nov 6, 2023, 4:09:55 AM) which said if I went to Menu/ More tools/ Customize toolbar, I should see a Download icon, and if not, to Reset Defaults. Did not see one before or after the reset.

Think I read somewhere that there is a way to see my previous posts, but can’t remember.

So I guess this is three questions: 1. Is that the menu bar and is that what it’s supposed to look like? Think it used to be different. 2. Where is the Download icon? 3. How can I see my previous posts?

Thanks for help with any of these.

Thank you for the explanation of the bars.

However, I don’t see a way to get directly to a Forum page. I must Google Firefox Forum Support. That takes me to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/firefox/support-forum where I can then hover on my name and get to my questions.

Nothing changes if I do Reset Defaults on Customize toolbar, nothing changes. There is no Downloads in the list of items on the left. There is something which looks like a Download icon on the Navigation bar, but when I left-click on it, the only option is Hide button when empty. And it only shows on the Customize Toolbar page, not when you go back to the page you were displaying.

The only times I can do a download are when a website has an option to download something. I assumed there was a way to download a web page, but guess there isn’t. I can only do a print to a PDF, but then it loses information which you keyed in.

I’m not a tech person and I don’t understand how a lot of this stuff works.

So thanks again for your time.

Line 1 is the Menu bar with the various menu items.

Line 2 is the Tab bar with the tabs you have opened websites to.

Line 3 is the Navigation Toolbar that normally holds the location/address bar and toolbar buttons you mentioned.

You can also have the Bookmarks Toolbar visible below the Navigation Toolbar.

You can hover your logged in name at the top right of a forum page to find a link to your question (My Questions). You also can find links to your questions and answers on your profile page (View Profile).

Firefox auto-hides the Downloads button on the Navigation Toolbar by default. The Download button should appear on the Navigation Toolbar once you open the Customize window. If you do not see the Download icon then click the Restore Defaults button to reset the layout in case you previously have moved this button. Once you see the Download button in customize mode then left-click this button to see the current auto-hide state and toggle its setting.

If you remove the tick on "Hide Button When Empty", the Download button should still be visible when you close the customize window. In some cases might Firefox move a toolbar button the the chevron (>>) overflow area.

Can you attach a screenshot of the open customize page and the closed customize page with "Hide Button When Empty" diasbled ?
