Email disappears on printing

more options

I printed an email from Thunderbird before responding to it. When I went to reply, it had disappeared from the Inbox. After some hunting I found it in the All Mail folder, but it refused to be moved or copied to the Inbox. Even when I forwarded it to myself it did not appear in the Inbox. The message was still present on the Gmail server but Thunderbird would not download it via Imap. Have I missed a setting or does Thunderbird consider an email to be deleted once it is printed?

Thanks for your reply, Matt. It's possible I hit the archive key - I never use Gmail because it's so difficult to find anything, so wasn't aware of the label. I had a look to see if the flag was set, but the email has disappeared from Gmail as well now. I'm going to have to remain baffled by this one

did you perhaps hit the archive shortcut key (A) that would see the inbox label removed on the gmail server and the email only in the all mail folder as that is the designated archive folder for gmail accounts.
