not really getting an error message or code. just says "import failed unexpectedly. more info may be in error console. i cant find any error console. i should mention too, running win7 sp1.

I would help if I were more famiiar with vcard. Have you tried csv? If it must be vcard, my strategy would be to extract a vcard from Thunderbird and then see if it will import. If it does, then there may be some difference in the format to evaluate.

thank you. but i cant see a difference. i did try converting one vcard to a csv, but that didn't work either.

If you still have access to the Outlook account, I suggest exporting csv, as others have had success in importing csv. There also, I suggest first creating an export from thunderbird in csv so you can compare and adjust. CSV files are easily adjusted in a spreadsheet.
