I had to remove the password for my Gmail account because Firefox would not remember the new password. Now, not only does it not remember the new password, it doesn't appear to remember the old username. I have to fill in each time, after deleting my OTHER username and password (one is a business email, the other personal). How can I get Firefox to remember the username and password again, once removed?

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== someone hacked my email acct and sent a virus link to others today

Hi,

Some tosser hacked my email account too not so long back but only sent a harmless ad for jewelry to all my contacts, luckily.

I simply deleted the user name and password for the compromised account from:- Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords then logged in again and Firefox 'remembered' the new password. Did you try this?

Cheers, Keith

Yes, I did exactly that. Now when I go into Gmail, it autofills my personal acct info and password, and I have to physically type over with the business username and password. So that didn't work for me. It used to allow me to click in the blank username field and then choose from the two account names. When I chose one, it would autofill the password. How do I get it to resume doing that?

If you manually log in (ie type) to both accounts Firefox should remember both and offer them back when you click in the sign-in box. Check you're not clearing the form history and/or logins when you close Firefox from:- Tools > Options > Privacy > History, select - Use custom settings for history and make the choices for your requirements.

I use the Secure Login extension to handle all my sign-in's. It does a great job of handling all your sign-in's and passwords and gives you the choice for any multi accounts you have like Gmail, Hotmail etc etc. This forum too! https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4429/

You can also try to clear the Gmail cookies. Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Also check the Password exceptions: Firefox > Preferences > Security: Passwords: "Exceptions"
