Why can't I save certain images by dragging and dropping them to desktop?

I can't save certain images by dragging and dropping them but they can all be saved by right clicking and selecting "save image as...". Dragging and dropping does actually save the image but it just comes up with a default .jpg or .pnh icon and if I try ti view it with any kind of image viewing program it just shows up as completely white.

Here is one site where none of the images work for me when saved: http://www.virtualshackles.com/ If I try to save any of the comics by dragging and dropping they don't work but they show up in the browser perfectly. I'm pretty sure this is a Firefox issue because the same function works with IE, Chrome and Safari, but I prefer using Firefox.

Dragging the comic image from that page to the desktop works fine for me. Can you reproduce the problem in Firefox's own safe mode? If not, an extension is the culprit so disable any image-related extensions like cooliris to see if that helps.

I have tried safe mode, I have tried disabling all plugins and addons (none of which were image related), I have tried making new profiles and renaming profile folders, I even uninstalled the program completely (also removed all Mozilla folders and registry keys) and installed it again and it still doesn't work. It just looks to me like Firefox doesn't want to play with my system.
