Running Windows Vista Home Premium on a Vaio. Got the message that xul.dll couldn't be accessed and decided to uninstall Firefox. Got rid of everything but the Mozilla Firefox folder, which has xul.dll in it and a plug-in folder. I'm logged on as the administrator. Won't let me delete or change xul.dll file. Tried running a routine that forces ownership of files; didn't work. Tried changing name of Firefox folder by running chgdsk /f /r - access still denied at command prompt. I simply want to DELETE Firefox folder so I can do a clean reinstall.

Hi there,

You can create a new folder to install firefox in rather then renaming it:

1. Start (The Windows logo)

2. Computer

3. Select your primary Drive. In most cases, this is Drive C:

4. Program Files

5. Select new folder located near the top of the window

4. Select the file name for the folder where you want to install Firefox

~~~~~~~~~~
Now when you go to the installer, select the Custom option. You will be able to select the destination for firefox to be installed in. Find the folder you just created. See Custom installation of Firefox on Windows for more information
