I cannot upgrade to4.0, I get a message - computer must be restatred to finish a previous upgrade.
I have even tried to uninstall from the control panel, and I get the same message about finishing a previous upgrade to firefox.. So I cannot upgrade to 4.0 and I cannot remove 3.16 {?} to allow for a "new install of 4.0. Help!! Thanks

Do a clean (re-)install:
- Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
- Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
- Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
I have tried to uninstall thru the control panel. When I download and run the 4.0... after the screen that has the check boxes for desktop icon, start menu and quick start; I get the message that there is an unfinished upgrade that requires the computer to be restarted. When I restart and try again,I get the same message. I have downloaded several times and have run each download at least two times.
I am wondering.. your suggestion to delete the mozilla folder.. {or would it be the firefox folder. If I did that thru windows explorer - would I lose my data? Would the 4.0 install properly?
THANKS for the info!!! Gary
Hey Cor-el, Sorry, I missed some of your first message... I guess that my only question is about if the 4.0 would install properly with the deletion of the firefox folder {using windows explorer} The data retention would be a bonus... G
