I used to get a safety rating for website URLs with my previous version of Firefox. Can this be included in Firefox 4.0.1 browser?

When i did a google search, my virus protection (Norton and AVG) rated all the sites found for safety. If you got an icon against URLs that had a history of not being safe and you didn't go to that sight. If the site was safe, you'g get another kind of indication beside the URL that this was the case. Can this functionality still be included in the latest Firefox (for safety ) as it was in my previous version>

AVG has updated and renamed its toolbar. I think it's now called LinkScanner. You may need to update your AVG to a very recent version.

Not sure whether Norton has an update.

Hi carlfig, which security add-on are/were you using? It would be best to research the status of the updates now rather than relying on a discussion from six+ months ago.

I also had this problem. After the hint from jsher2000 above, I checked the add-ons. It's still called "AVG Safe Search" in the Add-ons Manager in Firefox. (Either under Tools/Add-ons or under the orange "Firefox": Add-ons (Or Ctrl-shift A) I found AVG Safe Search disabled in my list of add ons, and enabled it. Voila, the icons now appeared in the searches!
