plug in has been blocked for music player on a blog. I cannot find how to unblock or a different plug in to use.

If you do not specify a MIME type then Firefox will want to use the QuickTime that you do not have installed or enabled to play MP3 files.

You can try to add type="application/x-mplayer2" to see if that makes Firefox use the Windows Media Player to play that MP3 file.

You may need to install the new WMP plugin (np-mswmp)
