A work around is to reply to any tweet. In the reply erase everything (the @whatever) and type away. The tweet will show up like a normal tweet. Hope this helps. :-)

It's not just Firefox as Chrome is also experiencing the same problem. IOW it's a Twitter thing. We are lucky in that two of the most popular browsers (well, Firefox and that other one too snobby for W2K) are affected. I'm sure that's pressure enough for Twitter to fix it.
