When I go to my Earthlink home page powered by Firefox, the curser goes directly to the Google search bar instead of the regular address bar. If I put my curser directly in the regular address bar and say type in ww - and before I can type in the rest of the website I want, it goes directly back to the Google search bar again. I am getting very frustrated with this. Can you help me?

Some websites use JavaScript or an onload event to set focus to the search bar or another input field so you can start typing immediately in that input field.

If you do not want to use that search field then open a blank page and only open the Home page if you want to maker use of it.

You can open a blank page if you double-click empty space on the tab bar or click the New Tab (+) button or press Ctrl+T.

You can set the startup setting to "Show a blank page":

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show a blank page"

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. I will try your solution, but I was hoping that I could just change something on my home page to make it stop doing that. Again, I do appreciate your help. Many thanks!
