Running Firefox 6. Randomly when I search from the search box I am redirected to Bing.

I do not have Bing installed, Google is my default search engine. I have removed Yahoo and Bing as my fallback engines in about:config.

Help appreciated as Firefox is my main development tool and this problem is making it problematic for me to use.

Found it. You were on the right track. The problem was the firefox "search the web" option in the search bar... it is randomly(?) selecting between Bing and Google. Just removed it and all is well. Thanks for the assist.

Hi this hasn't really gone away.... :( I deleted the 'search the web' option which is causing the problem, but every time I restart firefox it bounces back and redirects my searches to Bing. I have tried leaving it in, but reordering it below Google, but it re-asserts itself back to the top. This is causing me a big problem as it is rendering firefox useless to me. Any help for this one?
