I am not being asked to remember my password for an online banking website. I had a previously stored password which I deleted and now it will not ask me if I want to remember the new password. I have looked at the permissions and it says allow.

The website may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving the name and password.

You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save the name and password.

Also make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

That did not exactly work. When I tried it, I got the following message:

Removed autocomplete=off from 0 forms and from 0 form elements, and removed onsubmit from 0 forms. After you type your password and submit the form, the browser will offer to remember your password.

which indicated to me that nothing had been changed and in fact, I did not get the browser to offer to remember my password.

However, on the same page that you pointed me to, was a link to "Using an extension - Saved Password Editor extension" which worked exactly as described. So ultimately, I was able to save my password again. Thanks for your help.

You did check that you aren't in Private Browsing mode?

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

Did you check the exceptions ?

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: Exceptions

You you see any empty entries in the Password Manager ?

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

I am not in Private Browsing.

There are no exceptions for the website.

When I show my saved passwords, there is a password for every entry.

I had a thought that it might have something to do with the new Tracking check box, "Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked" since this seems to be a new issue. However, unchecking the box did not seem to make a difference.

That's the extension I used and it worked great. I was able to save my password. I'm not sure what happened but t doesn't really matter now. Thanks for taking the time to offer your help.
