When wanting to view the source of a page, why does FireFox show the source from the server (as if to navigate to "view-source:http://example.com") and not the source of the page that's in the browser cache?

Thanks for suggesting that, but that's not the answer to my question.

I'm aware there are add-ons that allow you to view the "generated" source as opposed to the HTML source on the server. But, my question is why has FireFox changed the feature so that you always view the source of the file on the server as opposed to the source in the browser cache?

Surely something so basic should warrant an option for accomplishing this?

Firefox has always done that without using an extension AFAIK.

Maybe you can achieve that with Web Developer or other extensions.
