Is it possible to completely remove the option of Add-ons in Firefox 11? We would like to roll it out within our company, but want to stop users from installing their own Add-ons.

We are running Windows XP SP3 OS and would like to install Firefox 11.

But before we deploy the package, we would like to remove the option to add/install Add-ons.

Or would it be possible to remove the "Add-ons" option from the "Tools" menu?

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.

Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.

pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift

See:

You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:

defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

lockPref("xpinstall.enabled", false);
