Google uses autocomplete=off on its pages to prevent Firefox from storing search terms that you enter in the search field. Maybe relate to this: *http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-17510651

I'm wondering why it happened in the first place. I didn't make any changes. One day I just stopped seeing the drop down search history window. Thanks.
