Sometimes I stumble upon a website that opens a popup tab when I am trying to leave. Asking me if i really want to leave their site.Closing the tab is then not possible but it is possible to close the popup. Then if you want to close the tab or firefox itself, a Firefox message appears, stating that the website wants a confirmation about leaving their site. Not only is it then impossible to close the tab, but also it is impossible to close Firefox. Is this a bug or by design? (I am using Firefox 11.0 now btw) The only way to close is by killing the firefox process in the task manager. But then ofcourse when starting firefox again, it tries (very helpful lol) to connect to all the lost tabs again. btw that last problem goes away after a quick restart.

Don't you get a modal pop-up with a dimmed background?

Such a modal pop-up should allow to switch a tab or close the tab.

No it's not possible to close the tab without supplying the confirmation. It's probably not harmful to supply the website with that confirmation. But it's something that only occurs on websites that are not the most trustworthy imo. Therefore i am hesitant to answer the pop-ups.
