Any time I try to open a new window in Firefox (opening the application, dragging a tab off of the tab row, selecting add-on options from preferences, etc.) there is a 1-2 minute delay in opening that new window, and all windows I've tried to open all pop up at the same time.

I'm no computer expert, but I'm a senior engineering student at a university, and I've done my best to troubleshoot, to no avail. Nothing in preferences seems wacky. This has happened on Firefox 11, 12, and now 13.

Does this only happen with new windows or with new tabs as well?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

You can also try to repair the places database with this extension:

Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)

It was only windows, tabs were fine. I killed a couple of my extensions and it ended up working, thanks! I think it was a citing service I was using called EndnoteWeb, if that helps anyone.
