Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

None of this helped. I still cannot leave comments in Flikr. When I click in the comment box the cursor goes to the beginning of the message "ADD COMMENT HERE....Etc" but I cannot do anything. Normally as soon as you click in the box the message goes away and then you can type. I cannot even click and drag to highlight the message. BTW, comments work fine in Flikr when I'm using IE but I prefer to use FF.

Solved the comment problem myself. I was running FF version 14.0.1 and things were fine. When FF upgraded to 15.0 that is when the trouble began. I downloaded version 14.0.1 and the problem is solved. There is obviously something wrong with version 15.0. I opted out of automatic updates and I will decide if I update. Thank you for the effort cor-el.

Never thought to simply try typing. Dummy me. I was so used to the place holder text disappearing when I clicked on it I never thought to just try and type. Everything is fine now. Thank you all for your help.
