Do you have a toolbar, or is the problem in the areas where usually you have Google search: home page, address bar search, search box? Probably the easiest way to clear up search settings is using an add-on: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/]. If that doesn't work, there are some steps you can take manually as noted in more detail below. Some users have preferred the Reset method rather than cleaning up individual settings.
