How do I launch any of my bookmarks from the desktop?
I have Firefox v16.0.2. How can I launch any of the bookmarks saved in Firefox from the Windows desktop (and while online (Internet)) without having to start (open) Firefox first and then open bookmarks and click on the appropriate bookmark? With IE8, I could create a bookmark (favorites) desktop shortcut then click on any bookmark in IE and launch it without having to initially start IE first.

hello, please refer to this help article which covers your question: Create a desktop shortcut to a website
madperson ,,, Thanks but that is not my intention. I would like to be able to .. while online ... open my Firefox bookmarks, select a bookmark and go to that site without having to open/start Firefox first; then, open bookmarks, etc. There was one option however, Open the bookmarks "Show All Bookmarks" then export them to the desktop in HTML format. That is, however, not a very acceptable option for me anyway.
Do you mean something like this:
- "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -chrome "chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul"
I don't know. I'm not that geeky. So, what does this mean and how does it relate to what I am trying to accomplish?
That is a link to open the bookmarks manager via a desktop shortcut.
You can make a copy of the current Firefox desktop shortcut and add a space and the chrome URL to the target line.
- -chrome chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul
Ok then. I'll give it a try. I'll be back.
Well ... not exactly what I was looking for but it's better than what I attempting to do; using the bookmarks export. Sheeeeeesh! Thanks.
