to get a quick view of various images or html files, I like simply dragging the files from my local drive into a Firefox browser window.

since upgrading to FF 17, I can no longer do that. a NO symbol comes up when attempting this. and Dreamweaver will no longer preview with Firefox, even though it's my designated, preferred browser.

anybody know if both of these are some setting or something?

Its working fine.
Are you getting any error.
Try to use FILE > OPEN FILE
check it out..

Is that on an empty Firefox window (about:blank) or does that tab display an internal page like about:home or a possibly disabled about:newtab page?

Did you try to drop the image on the tab bar to make it open in a new tab?

more options

yes, a new, empty page. really aggravating!

when you just want to quickly view something, and not do the stupid, OPEN - FILE - and search of misc image to view.

and I tried dragging onto a New Tab. that doesn't work either. NO Symbol comes up.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

yes finally!

just going into SAFE MODE and dragging an image or html file into a browser window worked again.

and when back to normal boot up, I could do the same with FF 17 now! and didn't have to remove any add-ons!

thanks so much. I should've thought of the SAFE MODE solution.

You're welcome

Maybe a problem with the localstore.rdf file?
