I have the latest version of FF. I also have the following addons: tab mix plus downthem all video helper adblock plus download status bar easy youtube video downloader and bunch of themes

What I want to know is, lately even with the latest version of FF, why and what causes my search engine keep switching over to yahoo instead of Google? it started few days ago. Every time I type something into the address bar I keep getting the results through Yahoo website.

hello, try using the Search Reset Tool and deleting a possible user.js file in your profile folder.

Or uninstalling possible malware using ADWCleaner (disregard the ads on that page).

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Sorry but neither of the solutions suggested were helpful. I did a reset for FF. Now I just have the extensions mentioned above, no themes. Another thing I've noticed is that each day after I turn on my computer and begin to use FF the problem comes back. I'll try to upload a image tomorrow for more detailed explanation.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
