hello, the browser shouldn't the bottleneck for download speeds, since it simply relies on the rates that are available through your hardware, network and surroundings. 7.2 Mbps translates to 906 kB/s, so the rates you're getting seem plausible...

a new firefox version for android is released every 6 weeks after it has gone through the beta channel (so "beta" is always one version ahead and will contain features that will make it in the next release version): www.mozilla.org/mobile/24.0beta/releasenotes
