Firefox (23, 24 and 25, including in safe-mode) fails to render many websites properly (e.g., github.com, but not nytimes.com): while the layout of images and "visual elements" is fine, no text is printed. Any help would be appreciated. PS: Is there a way I could attach a screenshot?

Any luck if you clear both cookies and cache ? Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

No, it didn't work. Running in a new, clean profile didn't help either.

Is the text there if you disable styles on the page?

View menu > Page Style > No Style

In case this is caused by an incompatibility with your graphics card driver, could you try disabling Firefox's use of hardware acceleration for graphics?

(LINUX) Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

This will take effect after you exit and restart Firefox. Any change?

Good catch, disabling the styles worked (but disabling hardware acceleration had no effect).

Hi anntzer, disabling styles is not a convenient or attractive workaround, but at least we know Firefox is retrieving the entire document. On Windows, we would ask about your theme, but I don't know what issues arise on Linux systems that could interact with a clean profile.

I disabled the theme too anyways.
